The TURFU project

Launched in May of 2022, the TURFU PROJECT brings together practitioners across France, Finland, and Italy to imagine desirable futures rooted in the banlieues* of the world.

TURFU – The word TURFU is the verlan, or French slang term for FUTURE, and is used to describe things in our everyday that feel like they are so amazing they come from the future.

Our consortium works together to offer youth workers a set of resources that will allow them to run workshops with youth to imagine the future of their living environment and empower them to become active players in their transformation.

*Banlieues is the French translation of suburbs or urban peripheries
