Invited creatives from the System D community to imagine what a Turfurist rendition of Brussels might look like.

INSPIRATION

The first day was dedicated to the exploration and discovery of Brussels. From the walk we decided to write a story using Brussel’s canals, as if ancestral squids lived in them, and Brussels’ famous waffle trucks as modes of travel for wandering souls.

WORLDBUILDING

Ten of us worked together on the creation of a video and dance performance capturing the essence of this new vision we had for Brussels.

The creation also resulted in a choreography, performed live on the opening night of the Festival System D.

CHANGEMAKING

Working with artists, futurists, dancers, and filmmakers, allowed us to push ourselves to see from each other’s perspectives. A year later, our video is still used in exhibits and the team formed on the event has continued collaborating.
